My favourite film
Every week I go with my friends to the movies. We usually choose the films of well-known directors in which popular actors play. In this way we may be sure that we will not waste our time. We also try to see the films which have been given awards.
I saw many films in my life. Some of them were really interesting, some funny and the others
rather boring or just poor quality. Lately I have watched a very interesting film entitled ”Forrest Gump”. It made much impression on me. I watched it many times and every time it seems to be more attractive for me.
The film is screening of a novel written by Winston Groom. It is an Oscar-winning film. It has got six awards for: the best film of 1994, the best actor, the best director. ”Forrest Gump” was directed by Robert Zemeckis.
The title role was played by Tom Hanks, one of the best actors of our times. He is famous for such films as : ”Philadelphia”, ”Saving Private Ryan”.
”Forrest Gump” is a wonderfully warm and funny story about a good-hearted young man from Alabama. He wins a medal for bravery in the Vietnam War, meets the President of the United States of America. His best friend is an ape called Sue. ‘I was born an idiot – but I’m cleverer than most people think’, says Forrest Gump. And this soon becomes clear in the film, which reveals that one does not have to be learned or clever to achieve fame and wealth. Forrest seems not to understand the world and its rules. His heart tells him what to do or what he is not allowed. Forrest Gump says: ‘Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you can find ...’This quotation became an inspiration for milion people all over the world. The film is very realistic in the way it shows us everyday life of American society. It is est in the twentieth century.
The director pays great attention to details, such as the authentic costumes.
The special effects are impressive. In one memorable scene, Forrest Gump meets the President – John Fitzerald Kennedy – it seems to be a historical event shown by some TV station. It is very convincing and well done. The dialogue is often excellent and amuzing. I burst out laughing many times watching this film. But sometimes it makes me cry. The scenery is beautiful with wonderful photography by Don Burgess. Moreover, the background music is perfect.
All things considered, this is a real masterpiece.
I was really impressed after watching that film. That’s why it is my favourite movie. I derive much pleasure from watching it over and over again. Despite being rather long, there is not a dull
moment. It is really worth seeing. I would recommend the film for everyone, although some scenes are quite dramatical.
